Reinforced canvas tool bag panel being stitched with heavy-duty thread

OEM & ODM manufacturing

Custom Tool Bags Manufacturer — OEM & ODM in China

Eighteen Craft manufactures heavy-duty custom tool bags — tool backpacks, totes, open-top bags and tradesman pouches — in reinforced canvas and high-denier polyester.

  • ~500 employees
  • ~500,000 pcs / month
  • MOQ from 500 pcs

Eighteen Craft manufactures custom tool bags for hardware brands, trade suppliers, wholesalers and e-commerce sellers. The range covers tool backpacks, tool totes, open-top rigid-bottom bags, zippered tool bags, wheeled tool bags and electrician or tradesman pouches, produced from a buyer's drawing or developed in house from a concept.

Tool bags are judged on one thing: whether they survive a job site. That means heavier thread, higher stitch counts at stress points, molded or reinforced bases that resist abrasion on concrete, and hardware rated well above the load it will normally carry. We build this category with a deliberately different specification standard from our fashion lines, and we inspect the base and handle anchors specifically rather than as ordinary seams.

What we build

Tool Bags styles we manufacture

Every style below can be produced to your design (OEM) or developed with you from a concept (ODM), and each is customisable in size, material, colourway, hardware and branding.

Tool backpacks

Two-strap carry with molded bases and internal pocket walls.

Tool totes

Open or zip-top carriers with an exterior pocket ring.

Open-top rigid-bottom bags

Fast-access bags with a molded or reinforced base panel.

Zippered tool bags

Fully enclosed bags for transport and storage protection.

Wheeled tool bags

Larger capacity bags with wheels and a telescopic handle.

Electrician and tradesman pouches

Belt-mounted pouches and small organizer carriers.

Two development routes

OEM or ODM — which path fits your tool bags project

OEM

You supply the design

Send a tech pack, drawings or a physical sample. We review feasibility, quote against the specification, source the materials and manufacture to your standard. Fastest route when the product is already defined.

You provide: design files or sample, material and hardware preferences, branding artwork, quantity.

ODM

We develop it with you

Start from a sketch, a market reference or just a product concept. We handle pattern making, material plan, hardware selection and prototyping, then produce under your brand. Suited to brands without an in-house design team.

You provide: concept or reference, target price and market, branding direction.

Both routes run through the same one-stop OEM & ODM process — concept, style development, material selection, colour and hardware customisation, sampling, mass production and quality control.

Materials

Materials suited to tool bags

Material choice sets price, weight and durability before construction begins. Full denier guidance and a side-by-side comparison live on the material capabilities page.

Polyester (1680D / 600D Oxford)

The standard tool bag body — high abrasion resistance at a controlled cost.

Canvas (heavy weight, waxed options)

Classic heavy-duty look with strong tear resistance.

Nylon / poly fabric

Lighter alternative where weight matters more than absolute abrasion resistance.

PU and synthetic leather

Used as base reinforcement panels and wear patches.

Customisation options

Size, capacity and internal pocket layoutBase type: molded plastic, rubber feet or reinforced fabricFabric denier and coatingThread weight and bar-tack placementHandle type: rolled grips, steel bar, padded shoulder strapZipper gauge and puller styleLogo method: screen print, embroidery, woven label, rubber patchWheel and telescopic handle assembly on wheeled styles

Minimum order quantity

MOQ from about 500 pieces per design

MOQ from about 500 pieces per design. Styles that need a custom molded base carry a higher minimum because of tooling.

The minimum is set deliberately low so a new tool bag design can be validated in the market before you commit capital to volume. It is the difference between testing three styles and betting everything on one.

MOQ varies with material availability, colour count and construction complexity — custom-developed materials or custom hardware tooling raise it. Capacity of about 500,000 pieces per month means the same line handles your scale-up when the test succeeds.

What raises or lowers your MOQ

  • ↓Stock-colour materials and standard hardware keep the minimum at its floor
  • ↓Fewer colourways per style concentrates the run
  • ↑Custom-dyed or specially finished materials are bought in batches
  • ↑Custom-tooled hardware or moulded components carry their own minimums
  • ↑Highly complex constructions need more line setup per unit

Lead times

From inquiry to shipment

Bulk production time starts at written sample approval, not at inquiry — the single most common source of timeline misunderstanding in bag sourcing. Plan backwards from your in-market date accordingly.

Stage Typical duration Notes
Specification review & quotation 1–2 business days Indicative price, MOQ and material plan against your brief.
Sampling 7–12 days Pattern making, prototype assembly and a physical sample shipped for review.
Sample revision (if needed) 4–7 days per round Most programmes settle within one or two rounds.
Bulk production 25–40 days Begins after written pre-production sample approval.
Final inspection & export packing 2–4 days AQL 2.5 style random inspection, then cartoning and palletising.

Quality control

What we inspect on tool bags

Every order passes incoming material inspection, written pre-production sample sign-off, in-line checks during sewing, an end-of-line functional check and a final random inspection on an AQL 2.5 style sampling plan.

Eighteen Craft holds no third-party certifications and will not imply any. Buyers are welcome to book an independent inspector — see the full quality control system.

  • Incoming inspection: fabric denier, thread weight and base component quality
  • Cutting: panel accuracy and reinforcement patch placement
  • Sewing: stitch density, bar-tack count at every handle and strap anchor
  • Hardware: zipper cycle test, buckle and handle load test
  • Assembly: base attachment integrity, pocket wall rigidity
  • Final inspection: loaded carry test, abrasion spot check, dimensional check, packing

Cost drivers

What moves your unit price

There is no single per-unit price for tool bags — cost is built from materials, hardware, construction labour, quantity tier and packaging. These are the levers you can actually pull.

01

Fabric denier — 1680D costs materially more than 600D but is standard for trade use

02

Base construction (molded bases add tooling and unit cost)

03

Number and configuration of pockets

04

Hardware and zipper grade

05

Reinforcement level: bar-tacks, binding, wear patches

06

Order quantity per configuration

Estimate my cost

Honest positioning

Are we the right tool bags supplier for you?

A good fit

  • +Hardware and tool brands adding a carry range
  • +Trade distributors and wholesalers needing consistent repeat supply
  • +Promotional buyers ordering branded tool bags from 500 pieces
  • +Buyers who want a graded range from pouch to wheeled bag under one supplier

Not the best fit

  • –Orders below about 500 pieces per style
  • –Buyers requiring third-party certifications or audit reports — we hold none
  • –Rigid injection-molded tool boxes — we produce soft-sided carry products

Our process

Concept to finished product in seven stages

01

Inquiry & brief

Send the tool bags reference, target quantity and target price. We respond with an indicative quotation and an honest read on feasibility.

02

Design or tech-pack review

OEM: we review your drawings or physical sample. ODM: we develop the pattern, material plan and hardware selection from your concept.

03

Material confirmation

Swatches and hardware options are confirmed against the price point and use scenario before any sample is cut.

04

Sampling

A physical sample is produced in 7–12 days and shipped for your inspection.

05

Pre-production sign-off

A sample made from bulk materials is approved in writing. This is the gate that prevents bulk-scale errors.

06

Bulk production & in-line QC

Production runs 25–40 days with stitch, alignment and dimensional checks taken on the line, not only at the end.

07

Final inspection & shipment

Final random inspection on an AQL 2.5 style plan, then export packing, documentation and dispatch.

Tool Bags questions

Frequently asked questions

Question not answered here? Email info@eighteencraft.com or call +86 15398220952 — we reply within 24 hours on business days.

What is the minimum order quantity for custom tool bags?

MOQ starts at approximately 500 pieces per design. Styles requiring a custom molded base carry a higher minimum because the base tooling has to be amortized.

How long does sampling and mass production take?

Sampling typically takes 7–12 days and bulk production 25–40 days after sample approval. Custom molded bases extend the sampling stage because tooling has to be produced first.

Can you produce tool bags with our own logo and design?

Yes. We manufacture from your drawings, tech pack or a physical sample, and apply branding by screen print, embroidery, woven label or rubber patch depending on the body material.

What materials can you use for heavy-duty tool bags?

Mainly 600D and 1680D polyester Oxford and heavy-weight canvas, with nylon fabrics as a lighter alternative and PU or synthetic leather as base and wear reinforcement.

Do you offer both OEM and ODM tool bag manufacturing?

Yes. Under OEM we build to your specification. Under ODM we develop the pattern, base construction and pocket layout from your concept and target price.

What are the shipping and trade terms?

We quote FOB by default and can arrange export packing and documentation. Production lead time runs from pre-production sample approval, with shipping time additional depending on your chosen method and destination port.
